About!

Hi! We're team Simplexity. A privately funded underwater robotics team from San Diego, California.

Our Mission

Team Simplexity is an underwater robotics team located in San Diego California. Our mission is to learn more about submersible robots and inspire others through STEM. Founded in 2021 our team has always been focused on exploring the vast world of robotics and learning how it can be applied in real world applications. From electronic diagrams in fritzing to machine learning and computer vision on our VOXL, our team has been set with the goal of learning through doing. Not simply through textbooks and diagrams, but by going out into the field and experimenting with new technologies. It is through this approach to learning that we've been able to form an amazing team and build incredibly robust and reliable robots. Robots that can not only move and turn, but also think and adapt to rapid changes in its environment. Although we are a first year team, we firmly believe that a group of people who are dedicated to what they do, coupled with a supportive environment and ample resources, can do amazing things.

Hardware & Media

Hello, my name is Tyler and I am going into 9th grade! On team Simplexity I work on the hardware team and help keep our social media accounts up to date. I've also built our team's thruster tester and collected data on the performance of our thrusters.

Hardware & CAD

Hey, I’m Alex and my role for Team Simplexity is to CAD the robot. I’m also helping developing software for our vision process.  Although I’ve been an active member in robotics for several years, this will be my first time working on underwater robotics.

Hardware & CAD

Hi, my name is Thomas and I work on the mechanical team. I helped CAD our sub using Solidworks, and created the wiring diagrams for our electronics. I'm currently designing and building our in-water drag tester.

Team Lead

As the Team lead of Simplexity, I'm in charge of the software, hardware and the CAD design of the robot. I have just graduated with my Masters in Computer Science from ASU which has helped pave the way for the various software applications running on our sub and the hardware being used.
